Earthquake Strikes Near Power Plant on East Coast
A five-point-nine magnitude earthquake was felt up and down the U.S. east coast, today. The earthquake was centered in Mineral, Virginia, which is home to the two-reactor North Anna nuclear power plant, operated by Dominion Energy. Although the plant did shut down without incident, local activists say the earthquake should serve as a warning that nuclear reactors in the US are vulnerable to earthquakes.
Paul Gunter is with the Maryland-based group ‘Beyond Nuclear’.
