On this edition of Century of Lies: Advocating With Data.
The Vienna NonGovernmental Organizing Committee held a webinar recently to discuss the UN Office on Drugs and Crime’s World Drug Report 2025. We hear presentations by two of the speakers: Gisela Hansen of the NGO Dianova International, speaking on the topic of “From Data to Advocacy: Using the World Drug Report 2025 for Gender- and Age-Sensitive Policies”; and Ernesto Cortes, Executive Director of the Costa Rican Association on Drug Studies and Interventions and a board member of the International Network of People who Use Drugs, speaking on the topic of “Leveraging Data from the World Drug Report to Strengthen Civil Society Submissions to UN Human Rights Treaty Bodies.”
Plus, resistance to the militarization of domestic policing and the ongoing federal assault on communities and working people continues to grow. Tens of thousands of people gathered September 6 for the We Are All DC Rally there in Washington, we hear speakers including Gabrielle Tayac, PhD, an Associate Professor of Public History at George Mason University, Samuel Epps, President of the Metropolitan Washington Council of the AFL-CIO, and Lydia Walther-Rodriguez, Chief of Organizing and Leadership at CASA.
