REINS Act passes in House of Representatives

The Republican-led House of Representatives this week approved the so-called ‘Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny’, or REINS Act. Under this act, government safety laws and regulations on an array of industries would require the approval of Congress within seventy days of their proposal, expanding Congressional power over the executive branch. Its implementation could impact regulations in the financial, environmental, food safety, workplace safety, and consumer protection sectors and beyond.

KBOO reporter Jenn Chavez spoke with Amit Narang, the regulatory policy advocate for Public Citizen.
