Council Resolves Police Use-of-Force Case

Two and a half years ago, a Portland Police officer Tasered a White Portland Cyclist six times within 30 seconds. The event was captured on video and is widely available on the internet.

Portland’s official police oversight group, the Citizen Review Committee, determined that the officer's use of force was inappropriate. This conflicted with the Portland Police Bureau finding that it was within the rules. When these two groups can’t agree, the case goes before city council for resolution.

KBOO’s Joe Meyer was at city hall yesterday, February 22, and covered the proceedings.
