Comedy Show Aims to Raise Awareness of Tourette's Syndrome
Jess Thom is a British comedian with Tourette's Syndrome. She's in Portland this week and next, doing a show at the Echo Theater on 37th Avenue in Southeast, just around the corner from the Bagdad Theater. “Tourette’s Syndrome” is a neurological condition in which people make noises and movements they can’t control.
In addition to the Friday and Saturday shows (May 4 and 5) for mature audiences, on Sunday afternoon, May 6, Jess is doing a free superhero-themed kids workshop for the younger set- from 2-5pm, also at the Echo Theater.
Jess talked about her condition and performance with KBOO volunteer Tom Flynn.
