This Monday, September 8th at 6:30pm, Prison Pipeline co-host Emma Lugo will be speaking with Angela Kim of the Oregon Justice Resource Center’s Women’s Justice Project.
Angela is a former critical care nurse who spent more than 15 years in the medical field before being sentenced to over 17 years at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility. Her experiences on both sides of the prison healthcare system—first as a provider, then as an incarcerated patient—shaped her commitment to transforming how we think about health, justice, and accountability.
Today, Angela works as a paralegal with the Oregon Justice Resource Center, where she focuses on healthcare issues inside Oregon’s prisons, uplifts the voices of people still incarcerated, and advocates for policy reforms at the state level. She brings a unique perspective as both a medical professional and a survivor of the prison system, working toward a vision of care and dignity for all people in custody.
