On this episode of OFK, my longtime friend Tim Iserman and play deep cuts from and rap about the whole "Screamo" ("emotive" hardcore) revival taking place - something that initially felt a little too soon for us oldsters who were there for it the first time seemingly not that long ago. Of course, this is all relative, as some would argue the style at it's arguable peak (1999 - 2003) was already the second or even third generation, following the 90's Gravity Records frantic art-core scene, political Ebullition Records California hardcore and even the proto emocore of 80's rooted acts Rites of Spring, The Hated and Moss Icon. In any case, it was a pleasure to rediscover some old bands we had not listened to in 15- 20 years and also share things that I never stopped listening to such as Shotmaker, Majority Rule, Union of Uranus and Gospel. This is youth music - raw, dramatic, cathartic, and, at times, a little cringey. We somewhat purposely omitted the biggest bands to give more shine to the more obscure or forgotten ones.
Tim currently plays in the projects Burial Clouds and Salo and is an alumni of Mustapha Mond, Ritual Veil and many others.
